FAQ

How long are sessions and how frequently will we meet?

Sessions are 45 minutes. We can meet weekly or multiple times per week, for those who wish to work more intensively or simply feel they are in need of additional support.

Is therapy right for me? How do I know if you are the right fit for me?

Therapy, like other relationships, has an element of chemistry to it. It is very important that you feel like your therapist is someone that you will eventually be able to build a relationship with where you feel able to talk about and work with difficult thoughts and feelings. It’s OK if you don’t right now! Or if difficulties with trust, intimacy or talking about how you feel are part of what brought you to therapy. A good therapist will understand that trust is not automatic – it has to be earned – and will be willing to go at your pace, while gently challenging you to stretch yourself little by little. I will not be a good fit for everyone – no one therapist is! Therapists with the same training or ideas about what works can have very different styles and personalities. You are the only person who knows what feels right to you. If we decide to work together, I welcome your thoughts, feelings and reservations about our relationship – in fact, I think they are very important to share! And if you decide that we are not a good fit, I would be happy to try & help you find someone who is.

How does payment work?

If you wish to use your in-network insurance benefits, I will verify those prior to our first appointment and let you know what your copay is. You can pay your fee or copay via the client portal.
